Real gas range repair
Sometimes problems with expensive kitchen appliances look pretty simple at first. The customer was a property management company manager. A complaint came in from the tenant: “Two burners are not working, and one lights only after a few seconds.” But once you start taking the range apart, it often turns out there is more than one cause.
That is exactly what happened with this large professional ZLINE range repair case involving a ZLINE RA48 range.
Customer Complaint
The customer reported several problems at once. Two burners would not ignite at all, one burner had delayed ignition — gas was coming out, but the flame appeared only after a few seconds, and sometimes there was a smell of gas when turning it on. When symptoms like this show up, you usually have to check several things right away: gas supply, burner condition, and the operation of the gas valves.
Diagnosis
After removing the top panel, it became clear that the range had already seen quite a bit of use inside. Some parts were covered with carbon buildup and grease deposits. Some elements of the gas system were not operating correctly.
Range:
Brand: ZLINE
Model: RA48

It turned out the problem was not just one thing, but several at the same time.
Problem No. 1
Heavily contaminated burner. One of the burners was so dirty and worn that it was no longer possible to clean it properly. In cases like this, it is better not to waste time trying to restore it, but simply replace the burner.
A new part was installed:
Burner Spread #150
Part number RA-010E

A detail about replacing the burner
There was one small complication here. The new burner came without the burner orifice tip (injector). It had to be removed from the old burner. But the connection was badly seized. If you try to unscrew it the normal way, there is a risk of breaking the gas tube or damaging the orifice itself. So the old burner had to be carefully cut apart in order to free the orifice without damaging the gas line. Sometimes that is simply the right way to do it. It is faster and safer than trying to force out a seized part.

Problem No. 2
Two gas valves. During the diagnosis, two more problems were found. One gas valve was not letting any gas through at all. The second valve had seized up and would not turn properly. Things like this sometimes happen on large ranges because of wear in the mechanism or contamination.
Two valves were replaced:
Single Gas Valve
Part number RA-3C00601EAD013

Problem No. 3
Delayed burner ignition. Another burner was lighting with a delay. This is a fairly common situation. Gas is coming out, the spark is there, but the gas does not reach the ignition area right away, so the flame appears only after a few seconds. Sometimes this can even be dangerous because gas has time to build up. In this case, the gas delivery path had to be adjusted slightly so the gas would reach the spark area faster — a small technician’s trick was used to achieve stable and quick ignition.
Repair result
After replacing the parts and reassembling the range, it was tested: all burners ignite right away, gas flow is stable, and the delayed ignition is gone. The range is working again the way an appliance of this class should work.

A few words about the ZLINE range itself
Honestly, ZLINE ranges themselves make a good impression. This one in particular, the ZLINE RA48: it is a large model, and it is put together pretty well from a repair standpoint. Inside, everything is arranged in a fairly simple and logical way. The gas lines, valves, and burners are positioned conveniently, and most components can be reached without unnecessary trouble. Of course, there are places where you have to work carefully, for example around the tubes and fittings. But overall, the design gives off a “Made in USA” feel — it reminds me of older ranges where everything was made of metal and without unnecessary electronics. You could say that inside it is simple as an axe — in a good way. For a technician, that is a plus — this kind of equipment is easier to service.
For the owner, that is also a plus — less complicated electronics, fewer unexpected problems.
Most importantly! Repair cost (example from this real case)
Parts:
Burner Spread #150 – $141.31
Gas Valve RA-3C00601EAD013 – $163.00 × 2
Shipping – $26.00
Total parts: $493.31
Labor: $220.00

Bottom line
Sometimes repairs like this look more complicated than they really are. You just need to calmly take the range apart, see what is going on inside, and fix each problem one by one. With ZLINE appliance repair, that is actually possible.
